The Club
|
North Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club (NNSLSC) has been providing safety to the community for over 100 years when it was officially formed during the 1912-13 season.
Since this time, the club maintains a record of “No Lives Lost” during patrolling hours at the beach. It is a proud record that the club continues to strive to uphold. At North Narrabeen Surf Club, we aim to provide a safe and caring environment for all members and visitors and a place where they can meet in good fellowship and have fun. To help achieve this we educate members and the community in beach and aquatic safety and promote skills and best practice in beach and surf recreation. Help North Narrabeen SLSC help the Community. Join the Club! Surf LifesavingThe red and yellow of our surf lifesavers has been etched into the hearts and minds of all Australians and has become somewhat of an international icon.
The Surf Life Saving movement began in 1907 when volunteer lifesavers began to protect the lives of fellow beachgoers on Bondi Beach, by performing patrols and rescues. Since this time, volunteer lifesavers have saved more than 600,000 lives. Our trained surf lifesavers spend more than a 1.3 million hours a year patrolling our beaches, pools and coastlines. Together they rescue around 12,690 people, perform 1.25 million preventative actions and give safety advice to more than 600,000 others each year. Surf Life Saving. Australian for life! Rescue gear and equipment represents the greatest single cost to running a surf lifesaving Club. Given the extreme elements to which they are required to withstand, constant maintenance is needed to keep all pieces of equipment in working order and ready to launch at any given time. In addition to equipment costs, it must be noted that each patrolling volunteer Surf Lifesaver must have their Bronze Medallion. This involves over 40 hours of assessment in many areas including CPR, rescue techniques, First Aid and fitness testing and must be updated each year. The cost of maintaining a Surf Life Saver’s training is in excess of $850 but the benefits are enormous. Below is a list of key pieces of equipment used to save lives. Consider this as a guide for a symbolic donation to the Club:
SURF BOAT COMPETITION
North Narrabeen has a proud tradition in surf boats and sits third on the all-time Australian Titles won; an outstanding achievement when one considers the size of the Club. The boat section plays a vital support role within the surf club as participants form a large portion of the active patrolling members, and therefore provides an avenue to attract new members to the Club through participation. Partnering with the Surf Boat section gives you an opportunity to align your business with a growing group of passionate individuals projecting a healthy lifestyle and community focus; and will provide extensive brand exposure at beaches up and down Australia’s east coast.
